Lyon is a lovely city and has lots to offer.
Public transports are very easy to use thanks to the application, also the public bikes are very useful. In the center you can reach everything within 30 minutes.
The part where I lived, at Vieux Lyon, I felt very safe. In Lyon you get the feeling and experience of being in a large city, but without the crowd and rush of, for example, Paris.
My host, Marie, was very welcoming and loves people. She will do anything to comfort you and is interested in what you do. You won’t have to worry about anything from her, you are free to go and to do what you want.
Put yourself open for conversation and everything will work out just fine.
My stay in Lyon was amazing.
The French family you have is great. Do not be afraid to join in.
They will invite you to watch movies with them, do it.
This will be a great way to get to know the family and work on your French.
Lyon is full of such amazing sights and new foods to try.
Take your time here to explore. You will discover something that you love in Lyon for sure.
It may be a cute little café that you visit every day or a quaint little restaurant that will make the best food you have ever tasted.
It could even just be a spot with the perfect view of the city.
All I suggest you do is go out and explore! Stop at the tourist information and find a list of places to visit, go out and see them and then take all those little side streets, that is where the gems hide.
Lyon won’t disappoint you and living with a family is enthusiastic!
I had an amazing experience staying with my host family in Lyon, I felt like I was really able to integrate into the French culture and also meet some great people.
My host family was very welcoming, they invited me to share meals and go on outings with them which were always a lot of fun. They were always happy to help me with anything I needed such as recommendations for restaurants, lending me travel guides, and helping me set up a bank account. I loved being a part of the family!
You will meet lots of nice French people ; I’m sure you will have a great time!
My host family in Lyon is truly wonderful and welcoming.
From the start they will do their upmost to integrate you and treat you as a valued member of their household.
Don’t be afraid to ask for anything from them (help, advice etc) as they will always do their best to help you.
A lovely family to stay with.
Lyon is a fabulous city to live in, so, if you have the chance to come and explore this wonderful place, lucky you!
I recently spent 7 months here working as a language assistant in a local school, and it was one of the best experience of my life.
Living in Lyon was great – there is so much to do and see here, you can never be bored!
Staying with a host family was also really nice, as I got to fully experience French culture, meet new people, and practice my French!
I would definitely recommend Homestay Lyon with Expat Agency Lyon, and the city of Lyon, to anyone thinking of working or studying abroad.
My advice? Be brave, make the move, and have a great time!
My advice for a good homestay in Lyon :
Be part of the family and talk a lot. They are super fun and awesome to be around. C. is also an amazing cook!
Lyon is the most amazing city in all of France. The people are super kind and the food is incredible. The weather is mostly excellent and spending time walking in vieux lyon or chilling by the Quai are my favorite things to do.
Lyon was the perfect fit for me.
My French family was everything I could have hoped for.
I came to Lyon to study in an exchange program for one year and I wanted to have as much independency as possible. This family was perfect, because they have a son who is also a student and he was in a situation similar to mine. That is to say the family understood very well my situation and what I wanted. Their home is also perfectly situated so it’s very easy to get around.
Everyone in this family has been very helpful and kind.
I have been able to practice my French with them which has been great.
I’ve had a really good time living with this family!
I really liked my experience with L and T. They are very friendly and always ready to help you or answer to your questions. They helped me also with the transport from the airport to their apartment, they sent to me all the maps with the indications and all the transport I had to take. I really appreciated it!
The room is very comfortable and gives you your independence, and you have all you need.
You will feel at “home” from the start, because they are also young so they know what you can prefer.
If you want to be independent then they are the right choice, because also with the time of the dinner, you are not stressed and their food is really good!
Have a nice stay!
The family are lovely . They really like Lyon and know a lot about it! In this sense if you have any questions don’t hesitate to ask. They are very helpful when approached about problems/issues. The children are lovely but a bit timid around house guests so make an effort to talk to them and spend time with them and things will get easier very quickly! The apartment has everything you need and is very spacious. Marie-Helene is great to talk and will help with any language difficulties so don’t hesitate to ask!
Lyon is a beautiful city and somewhere I will almost certainly return to in the future. I wanted to stay with a host family in order to experience French culture and give myself the best possible advantage to improve me French speaking while I complete an internship in the city. My family was welcoming and the apartment had everything I needed and more. Despite the dodgy weather at the start, I have enjoyed every minute of it and my French has noticeably improved! If only I had longer to discover more of the city, the culture and history of the place is truly inspiring.
I just want to say that the family is very nice, no matter what problem you have they will try to help you or give you some advice and you are going to improve your French for sure, because they almost don’t speak English, even the youngest ones!
They were really a family and they reminded me mine in Mexico and If I had any problem, I knew I could count always on them, because they always told me that; they were always very nice to me.
